GP Appraisal System

I've designed and written a system for the NYYPCT NHS (North Yorkshire & York Primary Care Trust) GP's that helps them book their appraisals. All done in Ruby on Rails, up and running for the new appraisal year. Internal stuff, so I'm not allowed to show it off :( but rest assured it looks lovely.

Nice work if you can get it...

So I'm not really allowed to go into it, but I've done some design work for a company called Focus Data Solutions (who specialise in the management of the release of data to Police and other legally entitled agencies) specifically for their clients Orange and various UK Police forces ... which was nice.

jQuery Easing Plugin 1.1

I'm a big fan of using the jQuery javascript library. It allows you to 'write less, do more' with javascript.

I had previously written a plugin to add extra easing functionality to the default animation effects. Whilst it worked, it wasn't the cleanest method for doing so, partly due to the fact jQuery wasn't really written with this kind of addition in mind.

Well that's all changed with the recent release of jQuery 1.1 - they've added the functionality I previously bodged right into the core code. Great.

That means my plugin can now be much simpler. So I've updated it to jQuery 1.1 compatibility.

A Long Time Coming

So, I've finally updated the site with some of my work from last year. Have a look at previous work to see.

Some exciting things happening at the minute, with a couple of sites coming up that I'm really looking forward to launching. More on those as they happen, but it's all looking good so far. Also, the Box-Fit site is currently undergoing a major overhaul, with some e-commerce goodness added in. Keep an eye out for that.

The Acoustic Ballroom had a major overhaul too, and is now running on Wordpress, the friendly blogging platform.

Box Fit

I've not had time to add it to the site properly yet, but Box-Fit PT is now live. It's a brochure style site for a company that does personal training from a boxing perspective.

So if you want to get fit, and you like boxing, why not go and have a look.

Quick update

Some new work added, and a few other changes to the site, hopefully making things a bit easier. The Acoustic Ballroom has also had a bit more work, things now looking great, with plenty of photos in the previous ballrooms. It's got a nice fluid layout now too.

I've also been working on some Ruby on Rails stuff (a bookings system and a feedback generator if you're interested) which has been very interesting to get my head round. All intranet related so nothing to show, but I'm really impressed with the speed at which you can set up a new web application. Looking forward to more of that in the future.

After the relaunch

I've had a lot of visits over the last week. Mostly thanks to the Reboot. And I've been doing all right with the votes too. Hovering around in the top 3 pages (ordering by rating). Which is nice. So thanks to all.

I've also been making a few modifications here and there, trying to tune things, and it seems to be going well so far. Expect a few more additions over the coming weeks, I'll even try and keep the work section up to date. And for those of you that care, the CSS now validates.

New Site Launch

This is my new site launched on the 1st November 2005. I decided, whilst working on the redesign, to relaunch with CSS Reboot. This is a collection of like minded individuals, dedicated to standards based css design, all (re)launching their sites on the same day.

So what's the site about?

It's a place for me to showcase work I've done, and help me to get more. If you've got a project you'd like to talk to me about get in touch.
